The PACK is Tara's House's volunteer membership group that supports our rescue mission through annual membership dues and with their time and talents.  PACK Mates participate in our monthly adoption events and represent Tara's House at other functions and educational opportunities.  PACK Mates also receive special newsletters and gain access to staff resources allowing them to connect with other PACK Mates, learn new training and parenting tips and read articles from veterinarians.

About Tara's House

Tara's House is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  Our mission is to rescue and provide care and compassion for our pets while working to place them in permanent, loving homes through a professional adoption process.  We are a high-placement organization and we rescue our pets primarily from high-kill shelters in West Virginia.  Tara's House believes in and institutes the humane training of our pets using positive reinforcement techniques.  We receive no government funding of any kind and rely on our adoption fees and contributions like these, in addition to the time and talents of our volunteers.

Who is Tara?

Tara is the canine companion, and a beautiful German Shepherd,  of the founder of Tara's House Animal Rescue.  Tara is a very generous sole and allowed her human to pull unwanted pets from shelters and bring them home to live in Tara's House until they were adopted.  Tara's sacrifice encouraged her four-legged friends to convince their humans to do the same thing, and our network of volunteers and foster home were established.  The initial commitments are still the backbone of our virtual animal rescue and make us so successful.  Tara still makes her rounds teaching new canine friends to convince their humans to open their homes to pound puppies in need.

How do I Join the PACK?

So, think you have what it takes to hang in Tara's PACK to work together to accomplish our mission and place unwanted pets in to forever homes?  If you answered 'Yes', we would love to have you in The PACK.  To join, simply review the membership categories to select the one that best meets your needs.  Then click the 'Make Donation' button to pay and enter your membership information through PayPal.

Additionally, you can download our PACK Informational Sheet and Membership Application to complete and submit, along with your payment by mail or at one of our monthly Adoption Shows.  Once verified by our membership staff, you will be sent a membership package and user information for the Dog Run (creation in progress) to begin taking advantage of your membership.  If you have any questions, please email us at ThePACK@tarashouse.net.

All PACK Mates must uphold our pet owner's oath:

"I do solemnly swear to accept the responsibility for the animals put in my care.  To tend to their basic needs of food and shelter.  To minister to their ailments.  To put their well being before my own, if need be.  I swear to treat them with respect.  To always remember that we have made them dependent to us and therefore have put their lives in our hands.  As God as my witness."

How Much Does it Cost to Join The PACK?
