Tara's House is based in Silver Spring and Columbia, MD.  We adopt to the entire Metro Washington, DC/Baltimore Area including: DC, Montgomery County, Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and the areas of and surrounding Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Reston and Woodbridge, VA.  Additionally, we will adopt to those from the Harrisburg PA Metro Area.


 

Our monthly adoption events are a great way to meet our adoptable pets and learn about our rescue!  Check our Events page for all the details.

 


 

Quick Facts

  • We are a high-placement, non-profit animal rescue.
  • We serve the Washington DC Metro Area.
  • We operate as a 'virtual' shelter to keep our operational costs low so we can rescue and place more dogs annually.
  • Our dogs are rescued from high-kill shelters located throughout West Virginia and other areas of concern.
  • We operate without government assistance, relying solely on donations and our adoptions fees to cover our operations.
  • We rescue and adopt approximately 300 dogs annually.
  • We hold monthly adoptions shows for you to meet our amazing dogs.
